We always find December a busy yet enjoyable month here in Wagga at the Club Motel.

Coming up to Christmas there are plenty of festive events to get you in the spirit, loads of shopping options for you to pick out the perfect gifts for family and friends, as well as a sprinkling of Christmas lights to see.

We’ve rounded up the best events, shopping and things to do in the city this month for you to enjoy, see you soon!

Make the most of our busy calendar of events

Each year, the city sees a few different carol events including the Wagga Wagga Christmas Spectacular  on Saturday 15 December, and the Wagga Wagga Inter-Church Carols in the Park  on Saturday 22 December in the Victory Memorial Gardens.

Spread some Christmas cheer while supporting charity with a wander through the magical displays at the Light the Night Christmas Village . There’ll be characters including Buzz Lightyear, Minnie Mouse and Captain America there for photos or just to say ‘hi’.

Oh and once Christmas is done, don’t forget to send off 2018 in style with Wagga Skyworks  on New Year’s Eve. The family-friendly event at Lake Albert finishes with a fireworks spectacular to ring in the new year.

Pick out the perfect gifts

The city’s range of shopping will help you find the perfect Christmas gifts for friends and family while visiting Wagga Wagga.

Head to the Wagga Marketplace  right next door to us at the Club Motel for more than 70 specialty stores and services, and Big W too. Another block down and you’ll find the Sturt Mall , or head along our main streets – Baylis and Fitzmaurice – for beautiful boutiques like Feather & Willow , Confetti Emporium  and Ted & Olive Boutique .

There’s also Paper Pear  with an exquisite range of art and lots of gift ideas. For those hard-to-buy-for friends, browse the range of local produce at The Wagga Shop  or Knights Meats & Deli – they won’t be able to resist!

Get in the spirit and see the city’s Christmas lights

One of our favourite things to do on a warm summer evening is grab an ice cream and take a drive through the suburbs of Wagga to look at Christmas lights.

The Wagga Christmas Lights Facebook page  keeps track of the best lights around town or ask one of our friendly staff to point you in the right direction. You can also climb aboard a Christmas Lights Tour later in the month .

If you’d prefer to just wander in the city centre, Wagga has its own Christmas tree all lit up just a short 10-15-minute walk from us in the Victory Memorial Gardens.

Whether you’re staying with us overnight, for a weekend or even a little longer, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy this December in Wagga. If you’d like to extend your stay so you can take in more of the city during the festive season, get in touch with our friendly reception staff and we’ll see if we can help you out.
